Fabio Bacchini - Crystal City EP [Ringside] OUT NOW

Review by primal records

Italian newcomer Fabio B returns to Bryan Jones’ new Ringside imprint with a really special four tracker. First up is “Nuff Said” on A1, a cool party cut that reminds me of a mix of Paul Johnson and Joey Negro material circa 1999. Funky filtered disco loop action all the way, very usable dancefloor tackle. “Blue Light Jazz” on B2 features some, you’ve guessed it, jazzy Crusader-style loops with a cool spoken word vocal and should please fans of Farina and Hodges. Flip over for “Classy Thang” on B1, a wicked disco infused groover, our favorite cut on the EP. “Meaning That” on B2 closes the EP in fine fashion thanks to a hard 909 kick and spastic Sound Republic styled chopped-up antics. A solid, varied EP that delivers the goods in a big big way.

UPZ Feat Patrick G - Ki Sa Ou Di (Fabio Bacchini Remix) [So What] OUT NOW

[Homepage + News] Thursday December 7, 2006

soWHAT records, Israel’s pioneering nu house imprint, is proud to present its debut release, an infectious voodoo house track by UPZ ft. Patrick G (Haiti) on creole vocals. 2006 has been UPZs breakthrough year with releases on Look At You, Faderz, Camio, Soulfunk Digital and forthcoming singles on Bubble Soul, Farplane & Camio. In addition, Avi Elman of UPZ set up soWHAT to release additional UPZ singles as well as signing other artists such as Hillary Sargeant with her track Fanga (UPZ mixes), to be released shortly on soWHAT.

First up, UPZ’s voodoo mix combines piano + string riff with an organ solo and uptempo calypso inspired beat.

UPZ’s Kwaito Mix goes down south with the main riff being influenced by South African Kwaito music and percussion by Idan K. Flute solo by Shachaf Aouday.

UPZ’s DxD mix takes the track to deep, dark and tronic territory.

UPZ tops of their mixes with a dope Drum Mix where Idan K lets loose with Nigerian style percussion.

Fabio Bacchini from Italy, on fire at the moment with a multitude of top notch quality releases, gives the track his signature funk/disco-inspired interpretation which also stands its ground as a mad cool instrumental.

Toping off the package is the acapella dj mix tool.
